An Email from a Camera School Participant

"By profession, I am an independent contractor to the Fortune 1000 and other similar companies. A couple of years ago I had purchased my Olympus E-300 digital SLR camera to replace a Kodak point & shoot camera that had malfunctioned due to poor design. Since then I have been using my Olympus E-300 as a glorified point & shoot camera to take pictures of the companies I work for and various sites of the cities those companies are based in.

Shortly after arriving in the Baltimore area on a project for a company in Owings Mills, I was searching the Internet for a camera store when I stumbled upon the web site for the Baltimore Camera Club, "...the oldest photograpic society in the USA." I couldn't turn this opportunity down. When you have travelled the country as much as I do, and have worked in as many cities as I have, you learn to appreciate the things that make each city unique. The Baltimore Camera Club is definitely something that made Baltimore unique.

I attended my first Thursday night meeting and quickly learned about the Camera School BCC was offering that weekend. The Camera School was scheduled as a two-day class... Saturday for class room learning and Sunday for hands-on in the field.

I learned more about how to use my Olympus E-300 in the two days of Camera School at BCC than I learned about it the entire time I have owned it. Since attending BCC's Camera School I have switched my Olympus from automatic and have shot strictly in manual mode. Not only has my ability to use my camera drastically increased but the quality of the pictures I have taken has dramatically improved over anything offered by the many automatic modes available in my camera.

Because of what I learned at the BCC Camera School photography is mofe fun than I ever thought it could be and I am now looking for ever opportunity to shoot some picture.

Thanks so much BCC."
